I can't believe it........ The comments are actually calling her out

therealdildoexpert

You could call it that, but it's not the case. People are telling me my lived experiences aren't true. I hate living in the US, is that a crime?

boluroru

Firstly did you actually come to argue here on this relatively small sub where your post was cross posted ? Secondly, read the comments on your post, no one is telling you your lived experiences aren't true. Everyone's saying your idealized view of Canada is false

dawnbandit

> lived experiences PTSD from my qualitative research class

therealdildoexpert

What I'm not understanding is which parts of what I said is false. I came here to understand.

boluroru

For one you seem to have the idea that Canada doesn't have a cost of living crisis that might be arguably worse than America's

therealdildoexpert

Yeah that's the thing. People keep thinking that I think that even though I've said otherwise. I don't understand. I've said that with my job and my current income I'd be better off in Canada. I wouldn't need to even change companies or anything yet somehow that's not coming through to people. It's like it's incomprehensible.

boluroru

I think this is the first time you've mentioned that, not to mention it seems you're going to Vancouver which is the second most expensive city in Canada Look nobody's saying don't go to Canada. Everyone is just saying you might find it isn't exactly what you think it is

therealdildoexpert

I've said throughout the comments that I understand it's not perfect, that I will deal with less gun violence and laws regarding women's bodies, alongside being able to get away from my ex since he won't legally be able to cross the border...yet those comments get lost in the sea of hate. I legitimately do not understand.

boluroru

You've mentioned your ex ( which is a more than fair reason to leave) but not the other stuff I don't think you're going to understand unless you actually spend more than a few days in Canada. Certainly won't from me

therealdildoexpert

I did mention other stuff actually.

Ellekm730

Its always an interesting look when people continue to double down on how it's just that no one understands what they're saying. Like, on multiple posts, comments, and with a deluge of downvotes.

therealdildoexpert

Karma is fake

mattcojo

No. And I won’t deny your experiences. However, I will make sure to point out that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side Anyway, it’s all about perspective. I’m not going to claim your life is amazing, but take a different look at it and see what you do have, and what’s good in your life, instead of pointing out what you don’t like.

ElBuzzle

Mofo literally says that "Patriotism in America runs through Reddit" when getting called out.

duskndawn162

When everyone is trying to gain karma through “America Bad” LMAO

MiS_bE_hAbE

No way

NemuNemuChan

lol

Count_Dongula

Does this idiot actually believe that everybody here is carrying a gun all the time? I don't believe this person is American, and if they are, them moving away is no great loss to us. They have a wildly unrealistic idea of America. They also have a wildly unrealistic view of Canada if they think the biggest problem is goose shit in a lake. I went on vacation recently. First time I felt at peace in a long time. Something about being away from all your problems makes you love a place. It's intoxicating.

Beneficial_Ad_3170

Turns out if you move your problems come with

willydillydoo

*cries in native Texan*

Beneficial_Ad_3170

I’m sorry for your slow loss of gun rights

teh27

God the delusion there is unreal. You drove maybe an hour across the border and everything is sunshine and rainbows now? No dude, clearly you just needed a vacation and that's what this was to you.

Vacations are relaxing, news at 9!

ironwill1964

Most of these idiots have never left the country. And they literally have no idea how shity most places are compared to the US.

AGuyFromGPlus

When real people from 3rd World Countries call them out they just ignore it.

NewRoundEre

Not even just 3rd world countries, life quality in the US is so much better than most of the developed world. Even Canada which is largely quite similar to the US had a GDP per capita only just slightly above Mississippi and a huge cost of living problem.

From a British perspective my wife's a new nurse, we're down in Texas now, she's on about $65,000 a year (single income due to USCIS backlogs not allowing me to work yet) and we bought our first house for a little over $100,000 this year. Back home she would have made £24,907 starting, I was making £22,000 or so as a bouncer so would combine to around £46,907/$57,000 on a double income with a median house price of £278,000/$340,000.

netpres

These are all interesting statements. On the whole, they paint a picture, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. In this article [CEOWorld](https://ceoworld.biz/2021/06/20/the-worlds-best-countries-for-quality-of-life-2021/#:~:text=Finland%20has%20been%20named%20as,placed%20second%20and%20third%2C%20respectively) on GDP in 2017, Canada (12) rates above the USA (14). [GDP/capita](https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-per-capita/) (in USD) for Cananda (2017) was $US46K. The USA as a whole was $59K (2017). On a different [site](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1038632/mississippi-gdp-per-capita/), Mississippi (2017) was $33K. At best, the numbers are inconsistent, and I believe shouldn't be used. The measurement of Life Quality focuses on the person, not the country, so GDP isn't really relevant as the measures are more about *personal* property affordability, *personal* health care therefore *personal* cost of living. Yes the USA is, *as a country* very rich. Individuals (with significant assistance from intergenerational wealth) can become very rich. Corporations are very wealthy. How does that relate to the rest of the people who live in that country? Too much violence, too much anger, too much fighting over dwindling resources *and as a society* too little care about all of the people around you. I wouldn't choose to live there.

7-inches-of-innuendo

Hit the nail on the head here

[deleted]

People from poorer countries were also being told that Americans deserve to complain too about things they don't like. But complaining is ALL they do and people who are drastically worse off may get a little tired of hearing over and over again about "healthcare!" and "guns!" from 3% of the world's population.

triangledude23

As a Canadian, let me into the us please :( fuck this place

Redleg00

While you are welcome here anytime, can you please work with the obnoxious internet Canucks in your area, Jesus they have some problems.

triangledude23

Most everyone I know IRL loves the US and wants to move there someday. We're not all bad!

I like guns and the Dallas Stars. Lots of beautiful places in the US to visit without having to cross the border, as well.

Moving to Canada won’t cure your depression

triangledude23

Uh, last time I checked you couldn't own guns in the us on vacation. But hey, I'll switch places with you, lol.

triangledude23

I mean, those aren't the ONLY reasons I wanna live there, and I agree that it would not be like a vacation, but I'm not gonna list all the reasons on a stupid reddit thread lol

WEAHOvershot

all the canadians in the comments telling her she's an idiot is based as fuck

Flaky-Illustrator-52

>I'm privileged, but I still struggle Maybe you aren't actually privileged

HyperboreanLifter

Hello, rootless department?

Redleg00

Why do I not care about the u/therealdildoexpert has to say? I’m sorry she had a terrible relationship. Just she’s using it for drama… not my thing.

willydillydoo

OP might not like it but Texas is probably a better bet for low cost of living and job opportunity

OverLet8464

Then that guy can stay, we’ll take in millions more people who are grateful and very much pro American.
