It got lost in the crowd of all the other ballads but it had a really mystic Old World vibe that could work in one of those sleeper hit low budget psychological horror films that I like. I think the previews when voting being limited to a couple of seconds kinda selects for big, catchy dramatic hooks instead of slow burn songs.

Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine, and Norway stood out for me. The hour of ballads in the middle all merged in to one.

Not shocked at Ukraine winning but how many points the UK entry managed to get.

I thought I'd recognised Finland's entry. The Rasmus were always on my cd player back in the early 2000s

They were so good in the early 2000s so I was really disappointed to dislike their song

my fav song was "In the Shadows"

God that takes me back, used to bounce like a loon to that at my rock club. Also a staple on my Kerrang! TV recordings back in the days of the VHS cassette lol

I remember when I was teenager and discovering bands in the radio like Evanescence, Lenny Kravitz, The rasmus, Linkin Park, Nightwish, Rammstein, Epica and more legends

It's odd because I was a latecomer to Linkin Park as I'm into Faith No More, early Metallica, Pantera etc so all my playlists were full of bands like them. But once I heard Hybrid Theory a few years after it came out, and the tracks Pushing Me Away and With You I was like "Holy. Crap!". That's the one awesome thing about being a latecomer to some music, you get to experience it for the first time after everyone else has experienced it. And for Linkin Park it was ian absolute musical mindblast.

Linkin Park gave us their style of mixing rock + rap + electro (the rapcore), it's a shame that their last album was Meteora, as soon as Metallica, pantera, Queen, GnR and others listen to them after I liked rock thanks to the songs that came out in the 2000's of the bands I mentioned above, but sadly I think I'll never meet another rock boom again 😕

Yeah that's one thing I dread, not having that same feeling of excitement when new rock bands, or a mindblowing album came out. Like Faith No More's "The Real Thing" album, Metallicas "Master of Puppets" or Pantera's "Vulgar Display of Power". So many bands and albums to list, like Fear Factory, Machine Head et al. Changed the metal landscape forever. Now though it's utterly stagnant. When I feel bad about it though I just crank up Fear Factory's "Replica" or Machine Head's "Davidian" and smile as I relive the good old days lol.

I liked it too. the singer sounded out of tune at parts, and it did fade into the background a bit. I wouldn't have given it zero though. it was a nice song and the singer had a nice voice. I think I'd enjoy it when studio recorded.

Not sure I agree with people saying it didn’t deserve to win on merit. It’s not a boring ballad, it has bit of classic Ukrainian folk music fused in there, it’s got a catchy tune to it, and they performed it well. It’s not completely out of left field.

Yeah Ukraine did really well last year as well, and this years song was somewhat similar to thay but a bit more accessible. I think it would have been top 5 material in any year.

I think it was a genuinely good entry. Catchy and fun, plus unique - definitely a memorable song. Liked the fusion of rap and folk.
