I don’t see anyone like upset that Karl helped. I see people that found it weird that this person @ed Karl for money. It’s nice that he actually did it but it’s a weird thing to do and people are worried it might become a trend of people @ing creators for their financial hardships.

Nerex7

My first instinct is to ask if there's even a hardship. People lie for money...a lot. So if anyone is upset they might be questioning why Karl would do this and reply (let alone give out money to a total stranger). I can relate. There's a lot of addresses you can give money to where you know it will help and not be misused. All I can hope for is that this person really needs it and isn't joking or worse.

Icy_Egg9244

idk what to do thx anyways

PanJam00

Yeah that was my first thought. I hope this doesn’t encourage people to do stuff like this, especially if it’ll gain them their fave streamers attention. This also doesn’t help the attachment I’m sure a lot of these people feel for the streamers, especially if they feel so bold as to ask them for money online directly. I can 100% see someone lying about a surgery, illness, or something else that requires a bit of money and then getting it and using it on mcyt merch. (This has literally happened before too, so I wouldn’t be surprised tbh) Karl was certainly nice in doing this, but i think it would be better for everyone if he lent money to friends only, not fans.

grasslover1616

It’s always okay to @ rich people for money, mans literally earns that back in a stream it’s literally fine. You prob will be ignored but still.

scottish_spook

yeah tbh that's probably significantly less than he makes from an hour of streaming. i feel like @ ing people you don't know asking for money is a little impolite maybe but at the end of the day i don't blame them for doing so (assuming they do need the money and aren't just using it to buy some designer clothes or some shit but that's pretty unlikely imo)

FinchRosemta

> It’s always okay to @ rich people for money I don't know about that. Like when people tell their fans to Post their Amazon list of back to school stuff or when Dream did the drawing tablet I think that's totally cool. I'm not a big fan of just asking rich people for money for though. But that's just me.

grasslover1616

Yeah it’s parasocial sure, but ignoring the cc part of it, it’s a rich person giving a poor person money, that’s it.

sknirDwerD

But isn't it a bit weird to go and beg for money? Like if you see a rich person on the street would you go "Hey give me your money"?

Andrew99998

Yes I definitely would do that

sknirDwerD

I wouldn't go around asking for money from rich people tbh. I would eat them

FoxWingGo

Yes have ever tasted person? They're so good and the only type of animal meat I will eat. Like who needs cash in this current climate. All I want is a nice dinner

sknirDwerD

I mean human meat tastes like pork which some people might like. I didn't like it very much tho. Pork is not great.

FoxWingGo

Dude I'm a vegan so it will be my only meat dinner I ever get.Now I have problem how can I get a rich person to come over for dinner?

C9sButthole

People do it all the time. Walk a block in any high traffic area in any city in the world and you'll see at least a couple of them.

sknirDwerD

Read my other comment. I already talked about this also beggars don't just go for "rich people" they go for everyone that can offer help. If you were that desperate you wouldn't go for rich people only. And we are not talking about being that desperate here. This dude here has a home, internet, phone/computer to access reddit and lets assume his family is doing ok financially. And lets say you are this dude. Would you go around and tell rich people "Hey give me your money"

C9sButthole

If we take them at good faith and say they are telling the truth and really can't afford tuition, I have no idea what would make you think that they aren't desperate and fill in a bunch of assumptions that would support that. We also have no evidence, as far as I know, that Karl is the only person they asked for help. Also, this: https://youtu.be/c6i0XTvckZU

[deleted]

sknirDwerD

oh I'm not talking about being that poor. It's called beggars I know that. And if you were that poor you would ask anyone that can provide help anyways would you if you were able to eat had a place to stay but not that financially stable

PanJam00

I mean, they’re rich because they ARE a cc, at least in karls case? His money is coming in from being a twitch streamer (and works with mr beast), so I think it’s hard to just say to ignore the fact that Karl is a cc when the whole reason he’s rich and famous is because of that.

CaptainFiguratively

That's very nice of Karl. For his own sake, he probably shouldn't have said that he gave the money publicly to avoid getting spammed in the future, but it's no concern of ours.

XxMackiexX

exactly. he probably didnt think people would react with such jealousy and hate. they are acting like if he gives 1k he is gonna be broke, when one stream (which is today) he will earn back in like 1 hour LOL. acting like their precious CC is gonna be broke

Ppppenguin862

Eh, as long as people don't pressure him into doing it again against his will in the future there's not inherently anything wrong with it. It's a nice gesture. He might do better to set parameters for gifts (?) to fans though, like Dream giving away those drawing tablets, it makes it harder for people to keep demanding repeats.

Al28kz_cant_change

It was a shot in the dark that so happened to hit. They hoped for money, Karl willingly gave the money. No issues, problem solved. However, I do see that some people might get upset thinking or seeing Karl get spammed by people for money over the next few days, which is just a mild inconvenience on the timeline anyways.

Evangeline_10_

Real question is when is Dream going to give me my child support money

Retribution__

I think it was really kind of Karl to help this person out, but I’m just worried since he announced this publicly, it’ll lead to a lot of people asking for financial help from him. And it’s not going to be possible for Karl to help out everyone so then their might be discourse over why Karl helped this person but not that person and it could just get messy seeing as how people are quick to find a reason to hate on him. But hey, that might not happen, but I just worry over the possibility that it could.

Effective_Half9105

I saw this on my timeline earlier and from I see, the person has like 90 followers and I really don’t think they expected Karl to see it, let alone give them money. I kinda just see it as a “haha I need to pay for things but im broke” sorta joke rather than a plea for help or trying to guilt trip in any way. I don’t think its that deep or deserves the backlash it’s gotten. Yeah there’s a chance they had malicious intent but I don’t really get that vibe but what do I know. It’s not like the person was spamming Karl in order to get him for pay for their tuition. I just think Karl happened to see someone struggling and wanted to help.

LothernSeaguard

I mean, I wouldn't rely on any streamers to get me out of a hard spot (it's basically a lottery on twitter given the amount of replies Karl probably gets), and this may set a precedent for people asking streamers for money. However, what Karl does with his money is up to him, not the Twitter armchair auditors. It's a nice gesture from him, and I'm sure that Karl is in a financially stable position (heck, I would hazard he's probably in a better financial situation than me, and I'm an IT professional in Silicon Valley with a graduate degree and minimal student debt) to give money to random people between his own streams and affiliation with Mr. Beast. Also, I don't know what this user's financial situation is. They probably have exhausted all other ways to find money to pay their tuition before pleading to Karl. I don't want to make a value judgement about someone based on a single tweet, and if anybody is, they lack empathy or are drawing conclusions from thin air.

XxMackiexX

they said they were about to drop out :( and meant the tweet to be a joke and now people are attacking them for not adding a tone indicator and to delete the tweet as if karl hasnt already seen it. also he will earn that money back the moment he hits the go live button so idk why people are mad

SnowSkiesYT

I personally find it rather weird to just go @ a person who you've never interacted with before to ask for tons of money. It's nice of Karl to actually send them the money, and assuming that the person isn't lying, then I'm glad that they could pay off their tuition now. Maybe it's just how the tweet is worded that come off as rude to me, but then again, I'm not sure how you'd word it so that it doesn't come off as that. I'd be scared to ask for a close family member for money, let alone a complete stranger. I'm just hoping that people won't start abusing the cc's kindness because of this, that would really ruin the mood.

waffleyyyy

Well I don’t know to be honest. That person could have been talking absolute waffle but you never know. The people who are upset are probably just jealous. Edit: Anyway it’s his money, he can do what he wants with it.

grasslover1616

I take people at their word on the internet most the times because there’s no real point otherwise.

MathematicianWhich

I personally find it weird to ask for financial help directly from someone u don't know in a way, like idk, If she had received the money i would be glad that she at least wouldn't be struggling, but she refused it because fo the hate i am guessing, which I also think was extremely harsh for the situation give. Anyways it was nice from karl, but ppl spamming karl for him to see it was the weird part as he was supposed to be the solution, which he is not, as well as greatly guilttrippy

AoiAot

I know how hard it is with little to no money, but.. I'm gonna be real here, don't make this a habit at all. Asking from a CC for mental health support and straight up money support is different. I'm not blaming that person cause they seem stressed out enough, but bad influence is still.. well bad. Plus, it's for tuition.. idk how the system works there but tuition at my place is a choice to take, not like schools, college or university. Regardless, glad Karl donated tho! Very kind of him and I hope they will feel less stressed out now Tbh I can see ways Karl should handle this better by like straight up dm but.. yea

grasslover1616

Tbh if this is what’s need for mcyttwt to give a shit about capitalism and wealth inequality il be happy. Some of the same people who would say eat the rich are now doing Uber Tory takes ‘just work harder’ ‘you can afford merch?’ ‘Get a job’ Get these tories out of my fucking community pls

'Get a job' is not a tory take Lol

grasslover1616

Omg it literally is lollll. If your response to someone being poor is ‘get a job’ you are dismissing the reasons they might not have a job that you don’t consider as well as that most low qualifications jobs are very low paying and labour intensive.

[deleted]

Bro just work harder 😂😂😂😂 hard work can achieve anything 💪

grasslover1616

SheCool5

Karl is super nice to people, to the point that it seems that they take advantage of it *(example: asking for dumb apologies, making fun of him when he panics or, in this case, asking for money)*. I'm sorry the person couldn't pay their tuition, but asking for a stranger to give you money is a dick move, people might see it as an excuse to ask Karl for everything since he's a millionaire and then get upset when they don't gain anything from it since.

LocalHaitianGirl

THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING

[deleted]

[удалено]

SheCool5

that's not what I meant nor said, there is a difference between a go fund me and begging a youtuber you don't personally know to give you money, especially since karl already gets shit on by antis for "not having a backbone" and by stans for "never listening to them", like the time people were making fun of him because of his anxiety and his stuttering during one of his apology stream.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gracelikesme

posting a go fund me and a request for people to donate money is very different to directly @ ing someone on twitter with a picture of you crying asking for $1.6k - it's like when people post their cashapp, no obligation to actually donate. Not saying there's an obligation here, but directly @ ing a person asking for money is different.

Next-Tree

Yeah that seems weird. Like how are they comfortable asking a stranger money?

gamekitten13

Okay so I can see why people are mad after looking at some of the comments on the tweet. For the most part it’s because the tweet and picture looks like she is trying to guilt trip Karl for money, her crying and saying she is on the verge of a mental breakdown with the actual @ of Karl’s account. And people are upset because yeah he does have a lot of money and work for a guy that has a lot of money, but if he saw it and not acted on it. People will spam him and antis would use it as ammunition against him that he is one of those terrible rich people. If it was supposed to be a joke, like someone had said she shouldn’t have tagged him. His money, he can do with what he pleases, kind of him to do this. Shouldn’t have publicly stated that he helped, it alerted people to the tweet and with that all the hatred from the fans that are devoted or jealous that the attention went to “some girl”. Something else is that we shouldn’t start to make it a trend to tag cc in tweets asking for money regardless if it’s a joke and we shouldn’t also just brush this aside as “oh this person is rich they can make up the money for it later” because this will encourage others to start asking for money (might not happen now,but it will eventually) then they become hostile overtime. I’m all for people not having a bank account that is almost the same size as a country’s bank account and actually helping people in need, but this isn’t a good way to go about it.

grasslover1616

Asking cc for money isn’t a trend and it wouldn’t be harmful, they are millionaire adults they can make the choice themselves. It’s super parasocial to say that they are being guilt tripped, you don’t know.

gamekitten13

I said it looks like guilt trip, not that he did get guilt tripped (there is a difference), and again it might not become a trend now, but I wouldn’t be surprised when it does become a thing. And I did say their money they can do what ever they want with it, but we still shouldn’t simplify this matter into they’re millionaires they can stand losing some money, as much as it is someone randomly decided to tag a cc to ask for money. Because it will become harmful when people start harassing and accusing the cc of favorites or that their against certain people, as seen from the countless threads on this sub that people take things out of context or go to the extreme with them. And not only that but like this post states the op got hate because op got a Karl response to her that he gave her money. If another person does this I’m sure the same amount of hate, or worse, would happen again, so yes it could become harmful

PanJam00

I’d say it’s even MORE parasocial to hit up a person you don’t know for any amount of dollars, thinking (even jokingly) that they’re gonna spot you it, but maybe that’s just me. And I’d say this could definitely be a trend especially because Karl responded. People very much want cc attention through any means, and if they realize this could be a method to do so, I can 100% see people using Karls (or Dreams or ranboos whoever really) kindness as a way to get money from him.

gamekitten13

Yes exactly, this goes beyond the fact that a person is asking for money and that the other person can re make the amount super fast. This fandom has a history, regardless of what the situation is so, it could end up spiralling out of control with abuse, to the asker and the cc, or with people taking advantage of the generosity of another.

PanJam00

And given how focused the mcyt community is on social status, there’s a good chance people will use that against them. How’s it gonna look if Dream isn’t donating to a poor trans woman of color who is also Muslim and needs financial assistance. Not giving them money is like, ultra kkk levels of bigotry in twitters eyes, and so the fans are gonna say something because if KARL donated, Dream CERTAINLY has a few dollars he can drop. And so it goes.

gamekitten13

Plus the fans could say that they “focused on this minority group more than this one,” the cc could be called racist or homophobic or something else by everyone because they didn’t see other people who posted to them asking for money/ things.

noope8

I've said this before and I'll say it again: mcyttwt is filled with performative activists and fake leftists that will bend their opinions/moral code for who they stan. This happened with the misogyny they display, racism and microaggressions too.. but this in particular is just classism, some of the QRTs were shocking😭 asking OP how they were able to afford Karl's merch if they couldn't afford tuition.. saying they shouldn't attend college if they can't afford it. And some even saying OP manipulated Karl...??? I'm not even going to talk about how much it irritated me that OP didn't accept the money, but still got hated on, for asking (most likely as a joke) a rich cc for money. Mcyttwt is just filled with fake activists, it's ridiculous.

grasslover1616

100%, people ask like asking for money on the internet is a crime, he can just ignore it. Also millionaire giving someone 1K really isn’t a cause to be upset that the millionaire is being manipulated

LocalHaitianGirl

No one’s upset that he gave money it’s more of the fact that’s it’s just weird to @ cc’s specifically asking them from money. Like okay they’re rich but they don’t HAVE to give you money just cuz you know they’re rich like that’s not their responsibility but if they choose to, okay whatever. It’s just weird and will cause an annoying trend. Also Karl has anxiety about being mass tagged n it’s a boundary of his that ppl will choose to break.

grasslover1616

He wasn’t mass tagged, the person who asked for money was attacked on behalf of him, against his boundaries

XxMackiexX

what Karl does with HIS money is none of anyones concern. he is literally financially fucking stable, can earn that money back in 1 hour of streaming. it is no big deal. Karl probably feels bad for responding to the person now because he opened them up to get a bunch of hate. the person stated AFTER karl already responded that they were about to go drop out. the he wasnt mass tagged because i literally saw the tweet when he responded. he literally could have ignored the tweet if he saw it. im wondering how many dms and mentions he gets of people asking him for help. probably a shit ton. so anyone who is mad about it and saying “it’s weird they are asking a CC for help” as if they wouldnt do the same thing 💀 and dont say you wouldnt even as a joke knowing said CC wouldnt ever see it or respond. Karl did a nice thing, keeping someone in college when he literally didn’t have to. and isnt it apart of numerous of CCs boundaries not to attack someone especially with a pfp of them? there was nothing weird or wrong with their tweet. Karl isnt the first CC to help someone go to/stay in college and he certainly won’t be the last. he just now will be private about who he helps because y’all have showed him you do not care about others financial situations which is exactly why another CC said they will no longer be letting people know how much they donate to charity. because y’all ALWAYS find a problem with it always

ImNotHere137

They’re actually mad that he gave money to a person who said they needed it? Mcyttwt is obsessed with every kind of oppression except economic. If you don’t have your parents yearly net income in your carrd I don’t trust you; bourgeois dni.

grasslover1616

So fucking true. There are people saying ‘oh you can afford merch? Should have spent on tuition fees’ I love the implications that if your poor you just shouldn’t be able to have nice things or stuff that bring you joy.

ImNotHere137

Their “comfortably-middle-class” is showing.

DrewDrinks

Yeah tbh its selfish lmao, why that one person, these are minorities that would've needed this money and he does this

filthfilth

I agree, Ben Shapiro would have never done that! He would have done something better, not give any money to minorities at all!

sotysa

With the words of famous band the killers: Jealousy

scottish_spook

Turning saints into the sea

God689Windows

I’m happy he did it but the person who asked for compensation seems a bit sus to me

grasslover1616

Literally no, they needed money for tuition, for given it, then got harassed so much because people ‘had a bad feeling about them’ so they didn’t even except money they need from a millionaire

klarunia

redistribution of wealth!

grasslover1616

Mans is an adult millionaire I promise you he doesn’t need financial advice. A millionaire giving money to a poorer person isn’t a reason to get mad at the poorer person lolll

gettheegone

Why is anyone concerned with what Karl does with his own money? Even if it does start a trend of people @ing him for money, so what? He literally works for Mr. Beast, someone well-known for giving away money, so I doubt this is even too out of the box for him.

XxMackiexX

exactly they are acting’s like the man wont earn that money back in less than an hour on his next stream

God689Windows

I said this on twitter and I'll say it again as an adult you are responsible for what you do and you have to rather save up your money and organise your semesters since CC's aren't responsible for paying your funds you are lucky that Karl is nice enough to help you out for once but don't be stupid about it and just ask for payment like a child since you are morally responsible for yourself since I assume your in college just stop wasting your time that is all but in general its fucking yikes for payment

God689Windows

Ways this person could've approached it diffrently instead of being accused a liar they could've showed their funds with a screenshot attached showing hte $1636 amount that it is real and not catfish or just lying and obviously don't ask for money since its being a idiot and moron

Aivizula

I read it wrong at first and thought he owed Karl money and people were getting upset about it. I thought it was like, Karl lent someone money, they now owe him that money back when they can afford it, people are upset he wants his money back eventually. But no, people are upset that he helped someone by sending money. It sounds more like someone he knows, because Karl is very kind, but he's not stupid and he's not a doormat. He wouldn't just send people money because they were tweeting about crying at 5am and begging for money. I don't get why people care so much though, it's his money anyway, doesn't affect then that they're streamer gave someone money, he's not gonna go broke and stop streaming or something, especially considering if he really needed money, HE'D STREAM, not STOP streaming. It literally doesn't affect any of them at all. But it's Twitter, my standards are very low for Twitter

Ironbanner987615

Karl did a good thing

[deleted]

Nothing against op, they desperately needed money and tweeted with the idea of the tweet going unnoticed. What worries me is that there are A LOT of people who will now @ content creators just to get free money. This person had good motives, some people instead are just greedy. As someone said, it would have been better if karl dmed them, but I'm glad they got money for their tuition. On another note, people need to learn how to chill. Karl can do what he wants with his money. If he didn't want to do this he could have very easily ignored the tweet. He is an adult, with adult money and adult brain. He can decide for himself

PanJam00

I swear to god, it’ll come out next week this person bought mcyt merch with the money and then we’ll have to have a whole ass conversation on why doing this is a bad thing. What Karl did was incredibly kind, and I applaud him for being so thoughtful. However, this person shouldn’t be begging celebs to pay for their stuff, because it’s not Karl Jacobs or Dreams job to pay for your bills. You can set up a gofundme to get money from people who want to send you a couple of bucks, or do commissions if you’re an artist, but it seems very tacky to @ celebrities for money. It reminds me of this guy who quit his job and drove hundreds of miles to talk with Logan and Jake Paul to get a job, and was devastated when he was told they didn’t want him. It’s not a celebs job to fix your life, that’s on you.

IRLTubs

They’re jealous that he’s not giving money to them
