Notes From the Crumb Interview on the Gambit Podcast
By - ScruffyNerfHerder66
That stupid gear crunch. Just make it where the drop is higher than before. If I waste 5 attempts let it allow me like 3/5 or 5/5 for the purple gear. Those continue to be a pain and would help if the drop increased. Gearing up in marvel strike force, along the way of gear drop, is great. You get what you need but there are times it doesn’t drop gear. That’s all you gotta do. Increase the drop-ratio a bit.
This. Please. I know the gear crunch is intentional and makes CG money. But it’s so disheartening to sim 20 battles and get 1 piece of gear. Or none. Make it better. I’d *almost* rather have to farm 100 pieces at a 80% drop rate than 50 at a 40%. The numbers work the same but psychologically it feels like progress. Just increase the damn drop rates.
Increase gear drop rates to the same as shard drop rates.
There had been a lot of improvements in the gear crunch. Daily reward, new Assault Battle tiers, GAC tiers, Galactic Challenges, Conquest currency, etc.. Even indirect ones like new characters not replacing existing nodes, rather being an additional reward. And obviously the increased farm rate on a lot oh characters.
These doesn't have a burst effect but I think it's absolutely meaningful and sensible on the long run. At least in my experience gearing characters is way easier compared to 1-2-3 years ago.
4M for a Dev account? Sounds like he won’t spend any on a game he even works for
The best dealers know not to use.
Don’t get high on your own supply
Crumb is not a developer though, he's just a community manager. He's just there to pass on info not work on game
He did mention that he's done some testing on Lord Vader so community manager isn't all he does
I mean yeah I'm sure he has on different dev accounts. But his personal account doesn't get the benefits of being a developer because he isn't one.
I mean I doubt that their personal accounts get any benefit from them being a developer aside from just the fact that they'll know more about the game. It's not like they can just grant themselves a bunch of resources and stuff and then dominate their arena shard, and they don't get things for free that we don't
He said something in the lines of: he's not one of the people that plays the most in the company, but there are devs that play since the beginning of the game, and have a much higher GP and game know how
It makes me think if they work on things way in advance cause they know what’s coming down the pipeline?
Yeah, that's probably true. I think it will be interesting to see them play against the community on the speed gac.
Do we know their in-game names? Might be a game to be had in predicting future requirements by following their accounts on sites like [swgoh.gg](https://swgoh.gg) and seeing anything that sticks out.
I can guarantee that he gains a weekly crystal allowance,.
Don't get high on your own supply
Right? I’m hoping he did a new account when the new starting changes came out, then it would be reasonable. Otherwise he’s pretty disconnected from the majority of players.
I’ve been playing for 2 years actively and I’m at 3.3 mill. 4 mill is actually around where a much larger bulk of players are, he is just disconnected from the whales, not sure if that’s what you meant. But the top 2-5% don’t constitute the majority of players
I’ve been playing since Dec 15 and have 7.2 mil GP. Spent probably $100. I’m pretty sure Crumb has been there for a long time, so that’s why I say what I did.
That’s not possible if you are saying you have 7.2 million gp (galactic power) if you have only been playing since this past December unless you spent thousands. It’s litterally impossible even if you got a shard and gear piece on every energy spent.
lol, lack of comprehensive lecture
Thank you for the notes!
I fully expect what they mean by “staying the same level of difficulty” is they will basically force you to hit the recommended gear levels now and make it impossible to under gear
Oh no.. I didn’t even think of that
Thanks for taking the time to write this up - much appreciated!
All you need to know about CG's approach to the gear crunch is how many Kyros it takes to get newer toons like Mon Mothma just to gear X or XI.
Or ask someone who's gearing Bad Batch.
If CG was interested in alleviating the problem, newer characters wouldn't be getting dramatically harder to gear than existing characters, which is also why we're never going to get meaningful reworks for existing, disappointing characters like Mace. They MIGHT one day release a Jedi Master Mace Windu Legendary Event toon, but there's no way they'll just give us a rework without making us gear a new, horrendously Stun Gun/Kyro-intensive new character.
Edit: And to be clear, I don't mean this in the general "let's all hate on CG" sense, I'm just talking specifically about the gear crunch side of things. They don't have to do a thing other than make characters going forward look more like previous characters in terms of gear requirements, and that alone would be a tremendous help. But as long as new characters keep requiring more and rarer gear, it's absolutely fair to call BS on the idea that they are "looking into" doing anything about bottlenecks.
Gearing bad batch requires more gear than half the GLs
Well, the other thing is that, kyros gave them the opportunity to differentiate old characters and new characters gear-wise. What they could and probably should have done was used new gear pieces to make new characters really hard to gear BUT made the old gear pieces much, much more accessible. This would have allowed people to gear up older characters easily but still have to put the grind in for newer characters. That would have been balanced and would have given newer players a chance to catch up and older players a chance to finish off some old pet projects. Similar to the "accelerated" star farming.
Instead, they made new characters hard to gear and changed nothing about older characters so now you can hardly gear anyone without taking out a second mortgage on your house. That was just greedy and obnoxious.
This just this. CG don’t care about the fan base. They care about what they can force people to spend money on next. But then they’re a business and businesses exist to make money.
No buff for Wat and only a nerf is a huge kick in the rodian gonads.
Especially after they required him at R7 for JMK.
They did that shit on purpose. First tell players to take him to R7, then announce the nerf.
To be fair, you really only need wat at g13 for the speed boost, anything on top of that is mostly for survivability, and it doesn't matter to me. It's just a stupid requirement but so was r7 BB8 and r5 hoda for other GLs.
Notice they didn't nerf BB8 or Hoda, and while these toons aren't meta breaking, they both have important mechanics that make their squads much better. Imagine if they put a cooldown on BB8's wiggle, nerfed his 2nd special, or decreased the bonuses on Hoda's Master's Training.
If you asked people 2 weeks ago what weapons tech did I bet <50% of people would even know it gave defense penetration. The anti revive and massive tm gains were the main point.
Def ignore is absolutely the biggest part of the weapon tech, what are you smoking. This is what allows Vader to one-shot Rey and R7 Geos and Malak when countering DR. Most teams in the game don't have revive mechanics and there are revive mechanics that straight up ignore the weapon tech effect, such as JKR and now JMK.
Say goodbye to not just Vader countering Rey, but also possibly relic bugs and DR.
I did a quick calculation of the damage reduction potential in CPit with a vader team, and vader loses about 40% damage taking into account the 40% reduction in damage from culling blade, the increase from 50% to 100% for each debuff dispelled, and of course wat's weapon tech being screwed. That's a huge example of how Wat's tech being nerfed and not buffed screws over the player base again.
My point exactly
Then you really had no idea about what you were doing. The TM gain is great sure, but in CPit you want the defense ignore for the damage increase and the TM gain did nothing since it was prevented, and don't you dare assume that you'll get anywhere near the same amount of damage against GL Rey between the loss of defense ignore and 40% damage reduction on culling blade. GL rey at r7 has a base damage reduction of 50% from her armor, so wat's weapon tech gave you a ridiculous amount of damage that you will feel that loss more than the damage reduction on culling blade.
Which is the entire point of removing it. It’s only critically important in the trivializing of defeating a GL and in putting out the largest damage in the top tier raid with almost no character investment.
I mean the whole reason no one wants to get GL Rey is because she is a supposedly defensive GL who gets easily wiped out by basically starter characters plus wat.
They could have done "attacks ignore defense, except against galactic legends". That way wat is way more viable against other content
The entire point of removing it is fine, but every other nerf had a trade off buff. I'm not saying to not remove the defense ignore, and my whole point was refuting your point that it isn't a big deal or no one noticed it. The weapon tech needs to boost damage, and the weapon tech is useless in several situations without some sort of boost to offense. Heck, you can get rid of defense ignore and give a +25% to offense, at least it's something.
30 minutes for the offensive phase? How will Ahnold even get to his first battle, let alone all of them?
I’m pretty sure it would be actually impossible to get all 15 attacks done in that time.
Man ahnold gets a lot more hate here then I ever thought he did, why does everyone dislike him?
I don't see the comment as hatred for ahnaldt101. It's mostly fun cause he takes his time and it's amusing
He's the most prominent swgoh content creator. That alone will get haters for various reasons (and if the haters are just because he's the biggest, probably not a good reason).
There's also some that feel his older content was not very good strategy/theory wise. I call out older content because my understanding is he has significantly improved on that front.
Finally, he's putting on a show. For some people, they just want raw content, not a packaged product. To them, he'll be a turn off because he puts entertainment first (which honestly is why he has gotten bigger than the others: he puts in the production quality and understands that straight narration is much more limited audience)
I just skip the first 20 minutes. I enjoy the rest of it.
One other critique: I don't know about everyone else's headphones but the music he plays blows my eardrums out and I can barely hear the game or his dialogue.
Oh, he's aware of that too, since he occasionally offhandedly says sorry to head phone users. I usually watch on my second monitor with just computer speakers, so I don't have that sound issue myself.
I know some people dislike him, because he’s sometimes presented as the only content creator for the game, when in reality there’s a lot more than just him
I don't dislike him.. I watch his stream regularly.. but I have to say that even though it's probably all part of the act, I really really hate it when he loses and he starts naming causes of his loss, such as "bad luck", "inconsistency of team, characters", "rng" or various other external factors.. it's almost never his opponents modding or team structure and it's always something else. And even though it's part of the act.. he acts like entire guilds are after him in GAC and that having 2 members lose to him in successive GAC must mean the guild is basically on suicide watch.
What I'm saying is basically he is an entertainer but I feel sometimes he overdoes it and the aforementioned acts (let's hope so) pisses me off
issa joke homie
I don’t know why. His content is for entertainment purposes and he entertains people with it, while also giving insight to new ideas and concepts. He’s a good player, but you have to remember that YouTube is about views and creating content. He’s doing well. People won’t always like everyone they come across. Is what it is.
I remember last year he pledged not to spend or something and immediately broke that promise like a week after lmao
That's when I unsubbed. It was when CG released reworked Vader, that was enough for him. But I don't follow him with hate posts, I just stopped looking at his streams/videos.
I don't hate him but I thought his content was better prior to the loud YouTube persona.
Ahnold has to set a self deadline to get the first battle in by the 20 minute mark.
If you like him as an entertainer, no quibbles there.
However, when he dives into deeper game knowledge or new character testing, his views can often be uninformed or misleading. For example, when testing another content creator's counter, he won't bother to set up the mods correctly and then dismiss it as inconsistent, which understandably pisses people off.
There's also a sense of exasperation when it comes to dealing with Ahnald - with him for pushing bad takes, and a lot with his fans for taking those bad takes far too seriously. I'd put that more on the viewers than on Ahnald though.
Yea his channel has changed a lot since he’s blown up. I’d say in the first two years of the game or so he was a pretty good place to go for game info, but for the last bit he’s gone full entertainment. Seems to be working for him, but probably not the best anymore as a resource for the game
For me personally, I cant stand the over the top personality that he and many of the youtubers have, it doesn't pull me in, it simply makes me turn it off. I only stomach his content when I'm looking for something specific, never would I dream of sitting down to watch him because it's enjoyable.
So, I agree with you in general. But it kind of grows on you over time, or at least it did specifically for Ahnald. Not other youtubers tho.
Can’t speak for others, but I don’t “hate” him per se, but I do dislike how highly regarded he is by naive members of this community. He’s a good youtuber who’s entertaining to watch, but he prioritises entertainment over the accuracy of his content. I will never recommend using his stuff to guide your decisions in the game, as too often he sensationalises content rather than giving a more down to earth and realistic portrayal.
I don’t have a problem with him per se, but I’ll be first in line to correct anyone who quotes incorrect or only partially true shit that he champions. I give a lot of new player advice, and I feel like more often than not I’m first having to clear the slate because they’ve watched Ahnald.
I feel like this is a bit unfair to Ahnald. He generally gives caveats: "for players at my level", or "this guide is for people wanting to go GL first". And then those caveats are ignored. Some of that could be on Ahnald, but some is also on the players for not paying close enough attention
Also, I think his GL first guide is actually not the best anyway (for instance taking way too long to get zetas from fleet challenges).
Hmm, I thought myself he was a good source, guess I was wrong, but I’ll never be able to understand what make units good and all that stuff, I just get a team and see who they beat
The comment above isn't entirely off base for some YouTubers, I'll throw myself under the bus and admit I can fall in that category too. I try to be helpful, but I'm not going to pretend I have a phd in SWGoH like some big brains in this community.
What some hardcore players fail to appreciate, however, is that the vast majority of the player base isn't trying to be the #1 best player in swgoh. Most people play more casually, want to have a good time, get updated on basic stuff & move on with their day. I'd say the majority of YouTubers for this game do a great job appealing to that audience and meeting what they're looking for. If everyone only wanted the best possible advise ever- the mega guru theroycrafting channels would be the ones with 200K+ subs.
Yeah, I suck at the game but I play hot I think is fun
Honestly, his farming guide is perfectly fine. You have to remember that between GAC, conquest/Galactic challenges, Squad/Fleet arena, and guild events there's a fair number of paths to focus on where one's not necessarily better than the other. His guide addresses everything, which means it's a little weak for GAC, which is what most people care about the most.
In some cases he doesn't actually know what he's talking about, and he will sometimes give super shitty advice, like rushing SLKR on a new account.
He's the Kardashian of the community. His brand is trite, and banal, following PT Barnham philosophy, but if I wanted to watch a circus, I'd go to the circus. Last time I watched him was way back during he GG rework, when he complained about how bad it was, then stole the \*GG Nuke\* comp, branded it as his own, and praised the rework for it's ability to take DR. He's a scourge.
Am relaxed? Just had enough kayfabe for a life time.
Dannng, how much is he paying you? Lol
He also lowkey nicked the disintegration squad from the nice folks in the hunters cantina discord server.
Not surprised, leopards, spots, and all that.
Because he's a fucking bellend.
Imagine being *this* triggered by an internet personality.
Sorry who are you?
sick burn bro
Haha I thought this was amusing but then I saw who it was.. LMFAO
Ikr I always loved his long streams
I think it's funny how you think they will reach out to him for this. CG doesn't really like him it seems.
They should honestly just double or triple the gears drops for all g1-g12 gear. I literally have 50-300 of some g13 mats because I am still getting stuck farming bullshit like stun guns.
Like fuck, add another tier to the gear challenges that has just guns, cuffs, and the stupid purple raid gear but has like an r5 requirement. Most people I know aren’t even bottlenecked by relics because by the time they manage to get the gear to take a character from g1-r1 they’ve already stockpiles the mates needed to go to r5+
Honestly, getting a character to gear 11 is just a s difficult as it was when that was the highest level(when I started playing). Tripling low level gear drops would allow for the true challenge to be gear 12+ it would even affect competitive because no gear 11 toon is usable anyway.
Can't do that since scavenger would give you relic pieces faster. God forbid we make the game a bit easier then people won't spend as much.
Wow, so basically 'we've heard you, but aren't going to listen. Suck it'
Yea, I got the vibe of “well fixing things takes work, and we don’t want to do that, so tough”
Lol, you expected anything different? This is their modus operandi
tl;dr version: Crumb: "we heard you are all pissed off, but we ain't gonna do shit about"
>They are potentially looking at addressing the scaling of crewless ships and mechanics such as 'massive damage' with the advent of new progression systems
Well finally something good I guess. Crewless ships and massive damage attacks have been needing a rehaul for ages.
Also, does speed GAC worry anyone else? Do we get to choose when it starts? If not it's going to be near impossible for anyone with a job or school to play it. Not digging it honestly. Half hour windows are *very* small for a mobile game.
Speed GAC isn’t for everyone. It’s something special for top people in the community (content creators, streamers, ect.) so unless that’s you, you shouldn’t have to worry about it.
Ah gotcha, makes sense. Thanks
Speed GAC isn't for the players - it's a content creator vs. CG employee special event.
Thank you, that wasn't clear in the original post
I personally think they should remove crew from all of the older ships.
Either that, or scale crewless ships with the capital ship or something.
After relics, every crewless ship in the game feels meh to me besides the hyena bomber and BTL. Glad they're finally thinking about it.
That would be a shitshow. Think of all the garbage toons people geared up because they have good ships. They'd have to refund a lot of gear.
Then refund the gear. It costs them nothing to do that. If anything, it would make the community incredibly happy and would encourage supporting the game.
I disagree. I think they should add crew to the crewless ships.
It's an unpopular opinion, but I agree. People hate gearing toons they will only use as pilots, but to me it's another challenge in resource management. I remember gearing up my Geos 3 years ago, before GBA was out. It seemed like a waste of a couple months and a lot of gear for toons I'd never use outside of fleets, but the moment I was done I was able to climb from around 100 in my fleet arena to taking first every day. It was a good choice because 1st in fleet arena daily was rad, and then GBA came out and made Geos a viable ground team.
In other words, "fuck you, we're sticking to our decision". Welp...guess that's that then.
Maybe it's "we've spent a lot of time working on this, understanding the broad implications of this, beyond just your account, across all accounts, and while we know it's not perfect for everyone, this is what we have concluded is best for the overall health of the game and the direction we want it to go."
It's just horsecrap. They have known for how long this is an issue, and rather than address things as they come up, they wait until it comes to a massive head and then do a wide sweeping change that most folks are not happy with, including big spenders. It could have been handled a number of other ways that wouldn't cause this much headache and ill feeling all around.
"noticed a positive response"
For anyone who isn't enjoying the game now, don't expect it to get any better.
Instead of creating new, more powerful characters to create power creep, they are nerfing old ones.
In terms of real work delivered by the dev team, its reducing, and they're finding ways to revalue previous assets by adjusting back end numbers (nerfs to non GLs, copying/pasting of old events, the Conquest rework which will surely be the same assets, etc).
If you want something new, innovative, or interesting, its not coming. This is it.
I think one really fundamental flaw, and I feel for CG in this regard, is the that because of the money aspect in games like this, it's often very hard to do consistent balance passes on characters.
I understand the plight of realizing straight up defense ignoring is a poor mechanic that limits future growth, but this wouldn't have been as big a deal if games like SWGOH were more willing to do monthly balance passes of characters as a whole.
Take a look at another side of the industry, MOBA games, and you'll see that with every month or so a game will have a balance pass to determine things going on in the game, on top of any additional topics. In general they will be relatively minor changes like say "Changed Vader base speed from 185 to 187" or "decreased CATs leap ramping from 50% to 44%", and this usually helps to nip problem as they come up - Unfortunately in the GATCHA style game, anytime this happens there is going to be a huge outcry from players that invested.
Yes the Road Ahead sucks, and I do feel for players that invested heavily in GL counters, I definitely think that this is not a great Road Ahead, but I acknowledge that **some** of the changes are necessary.
As for Wat? others may disagree with me but I think he's probably the hardest hit nerf, because every other nerf, for the most, has come with some form of balance change or increase in another part of the kid, whereas something was straight up taken from him, severely limiting his potential.
What I really would like to see, and would definitely get me to spend more freely, would be a more traditional release schedule of weekly minor patches \[which we generally have\] and one major patch each month, which would make slight tweaks to many kits to keep some form of balance, and committing to 1-2 "reworks" every 3-4 months or so.
> Take a look at another side of the industry, MOBA games, and you'll see that with every month or so a game will have a balance pass to determine things going on in the game, on top of any additional topics.
Part of the problem is the expectations the community has, I agree; but a bigger part of the problem is also that this is explicitly an **imbalance** pass, based on some internal decision of CG's that GLs simply weren't OP enough. I don't think you'd see a positive response in any MOBA game community if the dev there was like "In response to the most OP characters demonstrating a 90% win rate, we've decided to nerf: the characters that won 10% of the time."
for wat, maybe the weapon mod should get something like +20% offense or something like that
That wouldn't even come close to offsetting the loss.
Yeah it's like a 60-70% damage nerf to the weapon tech, which is completely insane
This makes a lot of sense to me. If there intention was always "only a GL beats a GL," then that's a specific choice of theirs and one can actually debate whether or not that is a good choice. But their utter inaction to rebalance or even state this to the community since the inception of GLs has allowed non-GL counters, allowed the belief that CG is ok with non-GL counters, that they would continue to be ok with this in the future, and therefore gave people confidence they can build non-GL counters and could reasonably commit precious resources towards those teams.
Like, most of these changes are kind of ok...in a vacuum...but the fact that it comes out of the blue and all at once is the crazy pants part.
In those MOBA games they also boost some characters. Which nonGL toons were boosted to supply the nonGL counters then? None. They simply want GLs to be OP and they don't want to do anything about them or the match making. Which is what pissed people. Not the nerfs per se, but the fact how they did them and the fact they didn't push any other toons on their place.
I 100% don't buy that balancing is too intensive or not profitable. Marvel Future Fight regularly releases new uniforms for old characters that balance them. Yes, uniforms must be bought, but not everyone needs every uniform and the premium currency is acquirable in-game daily--just like in SWGoH.
I don't play that game so can't comment on the system, but that doesn't sound like changing existing thinfs. It sounds more like mods you can give your characters on top of existing, which is different from modding a character itself.
It's not. The uniform changes the character. It's a rework. It takes older characters that are irrelevant and makes them relevant, and in some instances (often) it makes them meta.
You cant do balance changes that often in a game like this, because people straight buy the characters. Players could ask for a refund every single time.
>You cant do balance changes that often in a game like this, because people straight buy the characters
Well I mean I addressed that point pretty head on - Actually, pretty much in the first sentence.
However, I disagree. I think that becomes a symptom of expectations. If you're not expecting things to change? Sure you're going to be mad when things change, but if changes were **small** but consistently happening, people come to expect it as part of playing the game.
I get that, and in a perfect world there would be monthly balance passes. But I am telling you that the refunds would make CG have to stop after month one. We have a crazy player base that can indeed get a refund for every nerf made.
Galactic Legends destroyed this game. Change my mind.
Nope, it was Relics. They even admit it in the Video, Relic 9 breaks the game because the offense is so boosted it makes defense in it's current state pointless. It's been that way for a while, just look at all the enemies that are relic boosted to the point they one shot most anything.
I think they're cool but maybe they should have their own pvp league with just gl owners.
This is literally the most diverse and balanced meta since the game launched. Change my mind.
I'd argue that the current meta (before these road ahead nerfs come into effect) is the best state the game has ever been in. There are five viable 1st place arena leads, all of which have multiple effective party setups. Padme+CAT is also extremely strong. There are non-GL leads that are able to counter the GLs in GAC play. The Revans are still extremely strong teams in their own right, and many of the lesser tier teams still require thought and proper countering in order to beat them.
The year that was nothing but DR and JKR teams at the top was the most boring by far.
This game is making more money than it has in the past. Because of GLs.
You are wrong. Sorry. This game is thriving because of addicted whales and krakens who can’t stop taking a hit from the death stick
Whales destroyed the game
I think the more important part for PvP against friends was that they couldn’t have it happen during GAC or have any rewards tied to it in case people would start throwing for rewards. Which makes sense. But I also don’t think the community needs a whole GA format to battle friends. One battle at a time would be just fine.
Noted, I'll add this to the post
Between "there should be a drive to unlock characters at the top tier" and "any efforts are likely to be more passive rather than a major overhaul to the gear economy", I am a bit worried. The game is going to become more demanding on either people's patience or their wallet, which is going to cut loose lots of players who aren't willing to spend a lot and aren't patient enough to spend 4-6 months each GL.
"No youngling scenes in the event :("
"Fuck you, spend money"
if Anakin has some kind of a stacking mechanic similar to SLKR we can forget there are LS GL in the game, lol
Jmk also stacks mastery and is an absolute unit
JMK + Cat is likely going to clear sith raid faster than SLKR once people hone it.
Except DSGLs are completely useless in the hardest area of the game currently so until we get a new, harder mode LS will always be a better investment.
Lots of high end guilds value 1 LS GL over any two DS ones.
They value LS GL because of LSGeo, in DSGeo its overkill
Which is sort of my point….
Oh yeah I wasnt denying - just added more context
>Some feats may have rewards other than keycards
But I need keycards to get the top prize boxes which award the most unit shards. Translation: we want to limit the number of players unlocking the new shinies too soon.
>They want the Executor to 'feel worth the investment of resources'. Crumb expects it to sit well 'at the top of the meta', so this is the new ship to shoot for if you want to be staying at the top
Fleet arena is much less competitive, so shoot for the Executor to keep your place at the top of the shard for the next 2 years.
>They don't want to blanket nerf any GL counters. However, they specifically want to address interactions where there is a high consistency, and a difference in the level of investment required. Crumb specifically called out Vader vs Rey
>They might look into Wat after the update, but it is likely that he will receive no buffs
First require the character at R7 for the new GL, *then* roll out an update which nerfs him, and offer a refund down to R7 because Wat is such a prime target for R8. ***FUCK. YOU.***
>Crumb acknowledged the bottleneck of getting characters to G12. However, any efforts are likely to be more passive rather than a major overhaul to the gear economy
"Yes, gear grind to G12 is bad, but also fuck you give me money."
>They're actively looking at ship loadouts
They've been "looking into it" for years now, same as gear economy. Nothing will happen here.
# Road Ahead Video Format
>May or may not do it in the future, but have noticed a positive response
I just checked: the video has a roughly 6:1 dislike/like ratio...
Those dislikes are not because of the format though, it's because of some of the things that were announced.
Exactly. While Doja was better in the format IMO then Crumb, I actually didn't mind the format. If they hadn't announced such controversial things it goes over way better.
The dislikes are coming from the content of the video though, not the format itself
That’s what they always do. There’ll be 20 posts criticising them on Reddit, but the only post that gets a reply will be a bug report with 3 upvotes
All the comments on the video say that they like the video format but hate the changes
Imagine if they embraced it for the memes and said at the end “And remember guys, be sure to smash that thumbs down button, and as always may the force [to spend] be with you!”
if you're going to frame this shit as "SWGOH 2.0" then give us MSF level graphics
Tbf, I think the new models are looking drastically better than older models, and the scenes and events that have been released recently are better too. It’s much easier to slowly release better looking things and push out the old art than it is to revamp everything at once.
I agree outside scab Rey portrait haha
Yeah graphics are quite good for a mobile game. The 2 that I’d change are Scav Rey like you said and OG Ahsoka.
I feel like one of the issues with the new portraits is that they are used in multiple spots. They look better in some than others, though I don't know is the new Rey portrait is good anywhere
i am not playing this game because of the graphic, and the current loading time is very good.
msf loading time is slowing killing me and i believe the pointless snake and bird in the background have something to do with that.
I see this all the time and maybe I'm crazy but although GoH is obviously working with significantly lower resolution models I find the art direction and 'look' of the characters better than MSF.
In MSF they all just look like bland lifeless dolls to me.
kestrel is the most hideous of them all. Her joker smile with her op as f kit give me the creeps and i still have no idea why give a character wearing helmet a braid.
So then it looks like I am quitting after all. This is some grade A bullshit for players like me who tried to be different than the flock from day one. My entire philosophy was to beat opponents with less and a strong defense with players geared higher then other people geared them. Every single match the past 2 years has me fighting guys with 3-5 GLs to my 2. If they don't plan on adjusting the GAC match making algorithm this is the nail in the coffin for more players then they think it will be I know that much. So no what? Before we were told "is your fault for having your roster that way" when I was still able to pull off wins in this manner. So what now? Still my fault? I think fucking not CG.
Crumb said it would be harder to win from your position, not impossible.
If you cling to a strategy that doesn't work, it's absolutely your fault. Find a new strategy.
"Things have changed and I hate it! I shouldn't be responsible for adapting to new circumstances!"
Reminder: playing this game is entirely voluntary.
Some of y'all need to get your head wrapped around that. If a game changes for the worse, and worse is based on personal perspective, it makes sense to stop playing it.
God forbid someone voices their opinion on a public forum on the way out. The 'hardcore gamers' will be sure to ridicule them.
So you’re posting here to solicit feedback on your opinion, and now you’re calling people stupid when they don’t agree with your opinion? No one gives a shit if you quit.
Yes you are that proof.
Imagine thinking you fucking deserve to actually win when the other opponent spends comically more resources into his roster and invests into that many GLs.
The fact it took this long for the balance change to happen is egregious. You seriously think a basic ass relic Vader and just low gear thrawn plus wat pre taunt tank and any fifth should be able to go toe to toe with that expensive ass bitch Rey or even SEE?
Because that’s what was happening . Cheap af counters to expensive hard effort grinds is unfair. You didn’t deserve to beat Rey and SEE with such easy cheap garbage
>You seriously think a basic ass relic Vader and just low gear thrawn plus wat pre taunt tank and any fifth should be able to go toe to toe with that expensive ass bitch Rey or even SEE?
You seriously just now catching on to how this game works? It had been this way since I started playing and I have news for you bud, it isn't a 100% win rate with bullshit basic nonsense is it? Nope. This game has always had kits Lower levels beating higher ones sorry to break that to you.
>Imagine thinking you fucking deserve to actually win when the other opponent spends comically more resources into his roster and invests into that many GLs.
Nowhere in my comment did I even mention this notion.
>You didn’t deserve to beat Rey and SEE with such easy cheap garbage
Bitch shut the fuck up already with your foolishness. https://swgoh.gg/p/466819464/characters/darth-vader
And who the the fuck needs Wat for Reys using Vader? Not this guy
I'm confused. You've got 2 GLs and you're quite close to your 3rd and even have a good headstart on GMK. You're going to be fine?
I am currently doing pretty well given the circumstances. But if these indeed do take away my counters I don't have much of a choice. I am exactly who they are targeting with these changes and I don't expect anyone else to even understand what this does to players like myself. I'm done here but this is what I get every GAC. I don't mind being the underdog every week in a fight that can be won. I do mind being the underdog when the fight is lost before it even begins. https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/fgpxLQVgFbqA
That’s nice, now stop crying about being the underdog when you decided to cut your leg off. Your an underdog by choice and now your complaining that your poor decision is being punished.
But then what would that leave you to do during the day Cascade? Exactly... now piss off and go continue about your sad day responding to everyone's comments on a public forum. Take care and blocked for future idiot removal.
I honestly think when it all shakes out you're going to be more or less fine. You and I are in and abouts around the same power level, and I just got my third GL.
I'd at least wait to see what the practical effects of the changes are before coming to any conclusions, you and I are not really the target of these changes, think its more people in the 3-4M power range.
I hope so bud. I'm waiting to see how it all pans out and thank you for responding with a respectful comment. I don't mind it being harder, hell that's what I'm looking for but some of these changes will indeed throw a couple of my counters I have now including the time farming mods, mats, etc. out the window. Have a good one
Whats the point of any comment on reddit? Its a glorified chat room.
You the only one making a big deal about anything here boss. You don't like what I say then take your ass somewhere else where maybe they'll care.
Stop whining man, if you have 2 gl your obviously doing pretty good, better than most actually. If you want to quit then quit but there's no point crying about it on reddit.
i mean. you can either own the criticism you get or you can just call everyone a troll. But the others are right. This isnt a train station. You dont have to announce that youre leaving
I’m not seeking attention by posting “so it looks like I am quitting after all” comments. If you’re not enjoying a game or don’t like the sound of upcoming updates, just uninstall.
"They don't want to blanket nerf any GL counters. However, they specifically want to address interactions where there is a high consistency, and a difference in the level of investment required. Crumb specifically called out Vader vs Rey"
Sure CRUMB a lot of players were defeating Rey R5-7 using a G12 Vader. What a disgusting lie.
lol? He is saying the investment of Vader is not equal to the investment of Rey. I do not agree with the nerfs, but he's not lying about that.
It takes a lot more than a r7 Vader to make that counter consistent. Also, there are Rey comps and modding that can make the Vader counter VERY difficult. CG's explanations just don't make sense to those of us that have invested time and resources into these counters.
I mean even if it takes 5 relics to make Vader work it still less than requirments for GL. Im not fun of changes but I kinda get his point.
That being said GAS/JKL counters requires almost as much reics as GL and they nerfed it too as well. Crumbz is using Vader as scapegoat
They clearly don't literally mean that any team with lower reqs should be unable to beat a team with higher reqs.
My point is that the Vader counter is not as cheap as some represent it.
I don't like the nerfs at all, but what Crumb said there is 100% correct. Gearing 5 toons to beat Rey that required gearing 12, plus 7 ships and a capital ship is bullshit.
Agree to disagree, then :)
It takes 7 more g13/relics beyond a team of 5 to unlock Rey, and the Raddus. The really lame part about this is that they waited so long so that grinding players invested in these things, 5 g13 is still a big deal.
They might be going a bit too far in nerfing GAS and JKL since as characters with high requirements they probably should be part of GL counters. I can understand that a team of 5 characters with no prereqs other than g12 Geos and g8 Pheonix should maybe not make a GL look like a chump but GAS and especially JKL require multiple relics and people have committed to that path.
That’s not what it means… lmao
> There will be some empire synergies, but the primary focus will be on bounty hunters
FUCKING FUCK, again? It would have been better if there was 0 synergy, wtf CG, add some more empire ships then!
> Expect a 'drastic changeup' to conquest. This includes: new feats, modifiers, consumables, and a map overhaul with new bosses
LV and JMK as bosses.
What? Why add more empire ships when Executor will have mostly BH synergies?
We already don't have enough Empire ships to fill a full fleet, but have two capital ships, now they are adding a third that also have empire syngergy, and we don't have enough BH ships to also fill a full BH fleet, so players are likely going to fill the empty spot with empire ships.
What an unsurprising lack of straight answers
This makes me feel SO much better
They should really do those Road Ahead videos, it's more fun than reading a list and makes it look more professional. The dislikes on that video are because of the changes they're doing, not the format of the video so yeah i hope they continue to do those
Uh oh. "SWGOH 2 - The quest for more money" incoming.
Is executor the executrix? Or is it a new ship coming out?
Also I have a theory about how Maul is gonna work. I think he’s gonna give a unique to his teammates called Betrayal where they have the option to kill Maul if his health gets low enough and they can take the Mandalorian leader ability from him. I can’t imagine they would make it so your enemy has to take it first and it just trades off like that. There’s gotta be a way to keep it on your team.
