>I am trying to get the achievement of beating him in under 25 > >I have only beaten him once before this There's your first problem right there. You're trying to run before you can even walk properly. Focus on learning how to consistently defeat Sura FIRST before worrying about beating him within 25 minutes. >have every single relic and robe and am working towards getting every arcana > >my build is the thunder god (bolt rail, circuit line, laced lightning, and spark array) There's your second problem. You need to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of different arcanas. Your thunder god build is good for reaching Sura, but not for beating Sura. Bolt Rail is a short ranged basic that roots you when you attack, Laced Lightning is a delayed aoe that deals damage in a highly inconsistent manner, and Spark Array is a slow moving fan of projectiles that doesn't actually deal much damage on its own. None of the above arcanas are good for stunning Sura in Phase 2, and even if you managed to get lucky and catch him between waves, you do not have the dps required to deal any meaningful damage. Learning how to dodge Sura's attacks is important, but what you're essentially doing is forcing yourself into an extended fight with one of the fastest & most mobile bosses in the game using some of the slowest, most inconsistent, and shortest-ranged arcanas. To win with a build like this you would have to get really good at dodging & catching while whittling down at Sura's healthbar with wet-noodle slaps.

SoupaJaggah

then what is a good arcana build to use against him, I understand that I rush a bit, but its every single run that I reach Sura and get him half way down his second phase, its not like I cant do anything against him, he doesnt touch me his first phase, so basically I have full health every time, full enhanced arcana, missing 2-3 relic spots, so i should still stand a decent chance

annonym

You'll have to experiment with different arcanas yourself. Long range, instant cast & fast moving projectiles are good for dps & snipes, and homing / tracking arcanas are good for stunning him between waves, in which Homing Flares are my favourite. Edit: If you have a good grasp & understanding of how Sura behaves in Phase 2, it is possible to beat him with Bolt Rail alone, so I'd say you still lack experience / practice. https://www.reddit.com/r/WizardofLegend/comments/r5msc2/boss_rush_with_only_bolt_rail_and_best_dash/

Based on my experience, I also have lots of issues with him but i learned to make specific builds based on the robes/relicts i equipped For example, like a healing build with the spirit robe and everything based on getting healed by attacking him It's a more range based then close combat but i can easily revive healing by staying more defensive At least I need a lot of luck getting the relics i want for this build but i was able to beat Sura more often with specific builds

SoupaJaggah

ive tried the awe and vampire glasses for crit healing and got really lucky with finding an extra 3 or 4 crit based relics during my run but still lost, i use thunder god arcana and got a bunch of lighting based relics which gave me and huge amount of dmg boost but still lost, maybe ill just try a fully defensive build but honestly idk what to do at this point

Lucky_Maskull

Maybe you can try adding some evade relics The way Sura can easily put you in a stun-lock can be so frustrating and is often the reason why I lose to him as well..

Normal sura? If you don't have any trouble with the first phase, then your problem is entirely a lack of dodging correctly. Dodge until he uses his chaos signature. If he uses null parade (the big black bar) just wait for next turn, if he uses null flash agent (the 8 orbs) prioritize killing at least 3 while he's vulnerable instead. Other than that always dodge around him in case he uses mortal coil (the many hooks + whirl) You can get evading zephyr and covert ops mask to cheese him, just use it when he uses his chaos signature (any but the orbs still because those persist and may hinder dodging), gives you 100% chance to crit after dodging. Pair it up with either oversized dagger or jeremiah's needle (both cursed that increase critical damage) and you can delete him in 2-3 cycles at most. Avoid arcana that make you stand still (ie: aqua beam) and prioritize arcana that let you move around (ie: tearing whirlwind). Other than that, the harsh words I can tell you is to focus on dodging instead of trying to clear the 25 minute challenge. You're putting pressure on yourself when you don't even have all the chaos arcana unlocked (most of which make it 10 times easier). People who are in a rush literally will focus more on dealing damage than dodging, so you're definitely hindering yourself with that goal after only beating him once. Get to Sura, clear phase 1, and then just dodge without attacking him for 5-10 minutes if you have to until you actually learn the attacks and how to dodge them correctly. When you feel confident enough that you can dodge him for a long time without taking damage, then come back to the challenge.

If it comes down to it, avoid attacking if it means you take damage. Keep in mind the counsel members' attack patterns: first boss attacks 3 times, second 4 times, third 5 times, and Sura will attack once with each element, then a Chaos signature. Counting out loud actually helps remember when he'll be resting. Non-charging projectile (Ice Spear or Knockout Boulder instead of Ball Lightning) builds and long melee (Bolt Rail as opposed to Wind Slash) work best. Also, relics like Cassim's Airy Cloak and Stygian Turtle Shell work well to avoid stun-lock. Builds like Homing Flares and Cardice Prime seem to work well with other people, but Gust Volley (as signature, it does HUGE damage at melee range) and Frost Fan or other "fan" arcana (like Spark Array) are my favorite. If you have time to attack, use your standard, then run up and use Gust Volley. Without damage increases and a few crits, it can do well over 150 damage.

SoupaJaggah

>work well to avoid stun-lock. Builds like Homing Flares and Cardice Prime seem to work well with yeah i already do everything in the first part, my build is the thunder god (bolt rail, circuit line, laced lightning, and spark array) but ill try some of the ones you mentioned

KarmicRetributor

The trick is in catching him to stun, which is why I use that build, besides damage. I'd suggest trying Star Bolt (shuriken-style arcana, three uses, shocks), as it's still lightning, and moves significantly faster. Dragon Circuit also works if you don't want to aim.

annonym

>Builds like Homing Flares and Cardice Prime seem to work well with other people Atchoo! 🤧 >~~Without~~ With damage increases and a few crits, it can do well over 150 damage. Lemme fix that for ya 🤣

KarmicRetributor

It will actually do damage that high when enhanced, as that means \~1.5 times as many projectiles are fired, which is a good way to take out Atlas.

annonym

I had Gust Volley do 300+ damage to Sura's shield in Phase 1 and 200+ damage in Phase 2 & 3 with Double Trouble. It's amazing but I don't always get the chance to find it.

SoupaJaggah

yeah, i beat him every single time now, its kind of stupid but i guess the best way to win is to use stupid broken arcana, one use of gust volley does half of his health in phase 2 with the relics and curses i grab alone the way

stuff100

Dodge more than you’d think you need to dodge that’s how I’ve come to terms with it

Blood-flame

If you are only struggling with his later form I would recommend either seekers or any tracking move or auto hit. Don’t ever make a move until he’s stun able then once he is go in with the auto hit and then empty out every arcana you have on him. If you really can’t beat him though you can go over to the tutorial and redo it and afterward you can drop any relic you want and go in with max relics and have the strongest build ever. To do so you literally just redo the tutorial at the mirror then go grab the relics you want drop them on the ground and grab some more then pick them all up before you leave.

shloshki

When sura is vulnerable during his second phase he almost always dashes towards the center. Sometimes the first dash sometimes the second dash. If you have no issues dodging him during his attack phase, be patient and take your time, wait for him in the center and let him come to you. I use this technique whenever I have low health entering the fight. Patience is key.

Dependent-Tonight-30

I was able to beat him in less than 20 mins using a cursed relic that lowers your arcana cooldown by half (or significant cooldown reduction) but enemy damage and speed are increased. Then bring homing flares with you and a map of the chaos trials so u can skip some rooms if u wish.

Dependent-Tonight-30

Btw if you will do this, don't fight phase 3 Sura, cuz he's gonna be insanely fast and will give u tons of damage. Ouch
